AC Milan have come back from the brink of catastrophy this summer window. Having retained most of their top performers (other than Franck Kessie) and with the dressing room spirit secured with another year of contract for Zlatan Ibrahimovic, they have added Liverpool's Divock Origi on a free and are now working to claim the Belgian jewel they want most: Charles de Ketelaere.

The 21 year old forward is coming off a great season with Club Brugge, where he scored 18 goals and provided 10 assists in 49 games for the Belgian outfit. Despite interest from Premier League's Leeds United, it's always been AC Milan that De Ketelaere favours, and the deal seems to be progressing well.

Maldini and Massara met with representatives of Club Brugge in Belgium and talks are reported to be positve and have moved the deal forward. "We are always confident, it was a good meeting for Charles de Ketelaere deal", commented Maldini uppon landing, before also bringing measure of cautioness:  "We will see what happens - we are on it".

During the match for the Belgian Super Cup, which Brugge won beating Gent, the young player was on the bench and received a standing ovation when he came out to warm up in the 60th minute. It was one of those ovations that smell of farewell, so it all points towards a matter of "when" and not "if" for the move that would bring one of the hottest prospects in Europe to one of the most historied teams in the continent.
