MILAN TAKEOVER: American fund now the leading candidate
Another change of direction in the sale of AC Milan as the leading offers drops and a new candidate emerges to complete the deal very soon
The story of the AC Milan takeover takes another turn now. In the recent days it had been reported that then-favourites to complete the deal, Bahrain investment fund Investcorp, has issued an ultimatum to AC Milan owners Elliott Management as they were allegedly "looking for other buyers to raise the price".
Well, they said never issue a threat you don't intend to fulfill and the Bahrainis certainly did not, as it has now become know that they are leaving the process to adquire the historied Italian club. According to international news agency Reuters, the Bahrain fund has now pulled out of the negotiation table.
This now leaves American fund RedBird as the leading candidate, whose offer of 1.3 billion euros surpassed that of Investcorp. The company has many investments in the world of football, controlling 85% of French club Toulouse while recently investing in a stake at Liverpool for 735 million dollars from owners Fenway Sports Group.
According to Italian newspaper Il Sole 24 Ore, the takeover is set to be completed very soon and would leave AC Milan in the hands of a very ambicious owner.
