DI MARIA: 48 hours to make a decision on Juve move
With interest from elsewhere diluted, Juve expects the player's response
Everything was looking set. The player wanted to stay in Europe, the manager was interested and the club could afford a fair deal: the story of Ángel Di María's move to Juventus seemed like a matter of when and not if. But then another club got in the way.
When things were as good as done, FC Barcelona came with a declaration of interest, and with the Di María allegedly keener on a return to Spain than a move to Turin, everything suggested la Vecchia Signora was going to get the cold shoulder from the Argentine.
However, like with every transfer rumour involving the Blaugranas, it may have been a lot more of intention than an actual offer, cause now it all that seems to have diluted and it leaves Di María with just one option: Juventus. And things remain the same, with Juventus manager Massimiliano Allegri keen on the player and Di Maria keen on remaining in Europe for now.
According to Italian web Calciomercato's journalist Alessio Lento, Juve have since taken a step back and told Di María that he has 48 hours to make his decision. With constant communication between the players entourage and Juventus representatives, it looks like the deal will be closed sooner rather than later, just like it seemed before Barcelona made their intempestive entrance.
