Antonio moves to Spain: Rudiger leaves Chelsea on a free transfer
The German centreback will leave London and join Los Blancos on a free transfer. He leaves Chelsea after five years, where he won the FA Cup, the Champions League and the Club World Cup.
German international Antonio Rudiger will be a Real Madrid player for the upcoming season. So much has confirmed transfers expert Fabrizio Romano, although the deal won't be confirmed until after the Champions League final.
Rudiger (29) has established himself as one of the top central defenders European football, and will likely make a great addition the side managed by Carlo Ancelotti. The German is alleged to have signed a four-year deal with a net salary of €6.8m plus bonuses. It won't come cheap for Real Madrid in any case, as it is alleged that a fee of €35 million Euros will be paid to the player and his agent. However, it's unlikely Rudiger will leave Madrid any time soon; the German will reportedly be under a €400 million release clause.
Rüdiger joined Chelsea from Roma in 2017, for a reported initial fee of £29 million on a five-year deal. He played 130 matches for the Blues so far, becoming a key part in the team that won the 2021 Champions League under Thomas Tuchel
