BIDDING WAR: Liverpool and Manchester United intensify efforts for Antony
The 22-year-old has enjoyed a great season in the Eredivisie and is keen on a move during this transfer window
Ajax's Antony is one of the footballing world's biggest talents and top clubs are fighting for his talents. The player is under contract with the Dutch until June 2025, but he allegedly wants to leave Ajax for England in the upcoming European summer market. According to Brazilian site UOL, it is English Premier League clubs Liverpool and Manchester United that lead the charge.
The young striker has received solid approaches in recent weeks from at least three clubs in the Premier League, the third one being Newcastle United. In the mean time, Barcelona had allegedly approached the youngster in the winter to no avail, but remain interested. The Amsterdam club wants a transfer fee between 50 and 60 million euros, which would make him one of the top transfers of the summer.
It is said that Antony would be one of Ten Hag's requests to the Manchester United board, which could put Liverpool at a disadvantage, while they also have to settle Mohammed Salah's contract situation.
The 22-year-old Sao Paulo academy graduate has enjoyed a great season in the Eredivisie, finishing with 12 goals in 33 matches, which was bound to attract interest from Europe's biggest clubs.
