UNBELIEVABLE: a fan TOLD the manager to make a sub and HE DID IT
Fans always know better, but this manager took the words of advice to heart
Every fan thinks they know better than the manager. From the lineup to the last changes, fans will always criticize the decisons taken by the team's boss; managers know this and do their best to ignore it. Sometimes, however, they chose to do something different. That's what happened with Argentinian side Argentinos Juniors boss Gabriel Milito.
Milito, who played in Europe for Real Zaragoza and, most famously, for the Pep Guardiola led Barcelona, is now back at his home country of Argentina, managing historic club Argentinos Juniors. He's enjoying a very good spell, with his team close to the top of the table, but that doesn't make him impervious to criticism.
During their last match, one of the fans insisted that he needed to make some substitutions, and Milito chose to listen. In a hilarious incident, the boss stood up from the dugout, turned and asked who the fan wanted to be subbed in.
"It's a democracy, there's absolute freedom. He was asking me to sub in a midfielder, so I turned to him and told him 'Ok, but who?', so we can all be part of it and have a role in this team", joked Milito while commenting on the incident. "He did't suggest me a name. 'A midfielder, a midfielder' he insisted... yeah, but who? That decision sometimes takes a minute for the coaches, but the people wants things to be immediate".
In the end, Gabriel Milito made not one, but two chances, including the one requested of him: "We subbed in Nicolas Reniero to play as a midfielder. Did he like the change? Well, he didn't insult me, so maybe he liked it". Argentinos Juniors would go on to win the match 2-0, so the fan probably was happy either way.
