The man Arteta wants to keep the GOOD TIMES rolling at Arsenal

The Gunners are looking for a last minute signing to improve their midfield and they have their man

Arsenal have started their season on fire, winning all five matches they've had so far and becoming the only team in the Premier League with the 15 points available so far. While some are quick to point out the Gunners haven't faced any top six competition yet, that makes little to dampen the mood at the Emirates Stadium, and now the North London club are making an effort to keep the good times rolling.

Their main target in the last hours of deadline day is Aston Villa's Douglas Luiz. With Mohamed Elneny out injured and Thomas Partey dealing with off the pitch issues, the Gunners need help at the holding midfielder and see the 24-year-old Brazilian as the perfect solution.

It's understood that Douglas Luiz is happy with Arsenal's approach and is pushing for the move, while Aston Villa remain hesitant to let him leave, despite the Brazilian being on an expiring contract which ends in 2023. "I'm not in control of [the transfer]. That will be Douglas, his agent and what happens around that", explained Villains manager Steven Gerrard after the match that pit his men against Arteta's team in the Premier League.

"I'd like to keep him, he's a fantastic player. I've made that abundantly clear. We're not in a position where we need to lose our top players but at the same time Douglas has got a year to go and it is one of those really touchy situations where the club has to do what is best for the club, even if it is not necessarily best for me", added Gerrard.

Now, Arsenal are submitting a second bid, in an effort to get Aston Villa to agree to the move. The offer is reported to be at around £20 million, and negotiations should move quickly as we're in the last hours of the transfer window.
