"He's an ANIMAL": Gabriel Jesus LOVES one of his new teammates
The newest Arsenal star has been impressed with one of his new teammates after what he's seen in pre season
Mikel Arteta wanted to sign a new striker for Arsenal following a number of significant exits, and the Gunners added to their offensive options by signing Brazilian Gabriel Jesus from Manchester City. However, there was another Brazilian forward at the club when he arrived, and his performances have been so good that his new teammate is loving playing with him.
Gabriel Martinelli has already made an impression on Gabriel Jesus. The 21 year old joined Arsenal in 2019 from small side Ituano, but has come leaps and bounds since first arriving in London. He has been successful in securing a spot on the first team, and he can play on both wings and through the middle. He's got terrific speed and ball control, but it has actually been his engine that has really pleased Gabriel Jesus.
Speaking of his teammates high degree of conditioning and ability to physically stand out, the former Sky Blue wasn't short on praises: "Woah! Martinelli - he's an animal. An animal! He never gets tired!", then went on to comment on the ambition of the entire Arsenal squad: "[My new teammates] at the club are so hungry, they're desperate to get this club back to winning a Premier League after 20 years. This kind of challenge excites me a lot to be here".
For Gabriel Jesus, the move away from Manchester City to Arsenal was every bit about keeping a key spot (one many suspected he would lose following the arrival of Erling Haaland), but also taking on a new step in his career: "I wanted a new challenge. I want to play every game, that's why I came here. I compare this Arsenal team with the City team when I arrived there. There's a lot of young players. Everybody at the club has received me so well. I'm two or three years older than most players here but they look at me as a very experienced player. I like that. I like to be a role model for other players".
"I'm a person that thinks a lot. I've been thinking about [leaving City] for one or two years. The best decision that I could have made is to be here at Arsenal", Gabriel Jesus commented on his decision to move away from the Citizens, "I needed to play football with a smile on my face again. My mother watched our game [against Orlando City] and called me to say, 'I can see you're different, you're playing happy!' I got emotional hearing that".
