"I can't say no to Arsenal": The signing Arteta wants this January
Arsenal know they need backup if they want to keep their Champions League hopes alive, and this is their target
Mykhaylo Mudryk made the headlines the world over as his Shakhtar Donetsk thrashed Bundesliga's RB Leipzig and showcased all his talent as he scored one and assisted two more. With the whole of Europe looking for his signature, it came to the light that his next destination could be settled very soon.
Mudryk's impressive performance came after news Arsenal had apparently agreed a personal contract with him near the end of the summer transfer window. The North London club were unable to reach a complete agreement and will have to wait until at least January to secure the services of the 21-year-old. However, Mudryk assured that if the chance presented itself, he would love a move to the red half of North London.
"My dream is to play in Premier League, of course. Arsenal is a very good team, very good manager, so from my side, I can't say no to Arsenal", he exclaimed in an interview with CBS, "but a transfer is not just up to my decision".
In truth, Mudryk looks like the perfect Mikel Arteta signing. The Ukranian stands out for his ability to occupy any position at the forefront of the attack, using his dribble, pace and skill to get past defenders exploiting the width of the pitch, similarly to the likes of Bukayo Saka or Gabriel Martinelli. He also posseses an eye for a killer pass to open defenses, something Arsenal has at times relied too heavily on Martin Odegaard to provide.
Having joined the Shakhtar Donetsk at age 16, he's quickly risen through the ranks. In 19 games last year for the Ukranian side, Mykhaylo Mudryk has scored two goals and provided nine assists. Additionally, he has already made five appearances for the national team of Ukraine.
