Arsenal chasing one of SPAIN's TOP PROSPECTS to close their window
The Gunners have been very active in this summer window, but they still have one target in their sights
Arsenal are not quite done in the transfer market. The side led by Mikel Arteta has been one of the most active in the Premier League, bringing the likes of Gabriel Jesus, Fabio Vieira and Oleksandr Zinchenko to the team among others. However, the usually cautious Gunners are looking like they could go for another signing before all is said and done, and their target is none other than Villarreal's Yeremy Pino.
The 19 year old Spaniard burst into the scene during the 2020-21 season, finishing with seven goals and one assists in just over 1400 minutes. After another solid showing last season, where his LaLiga minutes more than doubled, he's attracting plenty of interest from the likes of Manchester City, Liverpool, Chelsea and Arsenal, and it's looking like it will be the Gunners who end up winning the race.
Pino was called up for senior duty for the Spain National Team by Luis Enrique in October as a result of his performances, and he has since made four appearances. It is thought that despite having a release clause for a stunning £67 million, Villarreal would be willing to part ways with him for much less. According to Spanish newspaper AS, £34 million is all that would be needed to have the Submarino Amarillo depart with their young star.
Now, Arsenal are reportedly thinking of going ahead with the move, as their other target for the remainder of the season, Bayer Levekusen's Moussa Diaby, could cost them twice as much, with a price tag of around £60 million.
As reported, Villarreal won't stand in the way of their young star should he be convinced to leave, so the coming days could prove crucial for Mikel Arteta as he tries to interest Pino in his project and where he would fit in those plans.
A product of the Las Palmas and Villareal academies, Yeremy Pino can play all across the attack, both on his natural right wing as well as cutting in from the left or in the centreforward spot. Known for his deadly finishing, he closed last season with another seven goals across competitions, and four assists to his name.
