The transfer that could UNLOCK one of Mourinho's last targets
The Portuguese manager wants to assault the Champions League spots and he could be getting another piece for his squad soon
The work AS Roma has done during this transfer window is truly comendable. Without the spending power of the Premier League clubs or the atractiveness of the likes of Real Madrid and Barcelona, they've managed to add to José Mourinho's squad in their chase for a return to the Champions League, and they're not quite done yet.
Having secured signings like Nemanja Matic, Gigi Wijnaldum and Paulo Dybala, now they're going after one of the best strikers in Serie A, Andrea Belotti. The 28 year old is a free agent after failing to renew his contract with Torino, and after being linked with the likes of AS Monaco, AC Milan and Valencia, he now looks set to join forces with Mou at the Stadio Olimpico.
"I don't know if we are going to sign Andrea Belotti", said José Mourinho recently when asked on the matter, "I can talk about him because he is still a free agent and I can say that I am happy to know that he wants to join Roma. I like this feeling and the director knows how much I like it".
The missing piece in the jigzaw is Felix Afena Gyan and his potential move to Cremonense. Roma want around 10 million euros for their young star, while the recently promoted side offer 6 million. The Giallorossi need the cash injection to cover the move for Belotti, who has already agreed to a three-season deal at three million per year. The moment the first deal goes through, the second one is expected to do so as well.
Andrea Belotti would join Roma looking to recover his best self, after scoring just eight goals in 23 games for Torino last season, missing a big part of the season with an injury.
