"When you lose 4-0...": Mourinho DISSAPPOINTED with Roma's debacle
The Portuguese manager spoke about the result that saw him lose the top of Serie A
It was all good times for José Mourinho and AS Roma but last week put a dent on their blistering start to the season. The side led by the Portuguese manager got battered 4-0 to Udinese, dropping from 1st to 5th in a very closely matched start to the Serie A season; however, Mourinho decided to look on the bright side during his press conference.
"I'd rather lose a game 4-0 than four games 1-0. Losing a match is only three points and four matches is twelve points", explained the former Real Madrid manager, who will undoubtedly be happy he's still just 1 point off top of the table, were Napoli and Milan stand with 11 points. "It's hard, but we look forward. We have 10 points, we are there. We make our way", said Mourinho.
"We have missed several opportunities with the game open and before the 1-0 we had one. They knew how to take advantage of the ones that came their way. We are already thinking about the game that we have on Thursday", he added after
after conceding their first defeat of the season.
Despite the loss, the Portuguese manager didn't forget to plaude his best player, after joking last week that the Argentina manager may owe him for putting Paulo Dybala on his best form again: "He was the best player on the pitch, despite the result".
In a game that was marred with controversy after the referee chose not to give a potential penalty to the Giallorossi, José Mourinho was very non-chalant about the trouble, admitting that his side was second-best: "When you lose 4-0 you don't talk about the referees," he sentenced.
