Atlético Madrid close to SNAPPING UP one of Argentina's TOP PROSPECTS
One of the best players to come up to the Argentina National Team in the last years could be moving to the Colchoneros very soon
Surprise in the transfer market: the Argentine Nahuel Molina Lucero, who currently play's for Italian side Udinese, is one step away from signing for Atlético de Madrid, according to reports from Italy by journalist Gianluca Di Marzio.
Molina burst into the scene in the 2021 Copa América in Brazil, where he was crowned champion with Argentina. He was reportedly the sights of other top European teams, such as Juventus, but it will finally be the team coached by Diego Simeone that will take him ahead of this 2022-23 season.
Like Rodrigo De Paul, his teammate with the Argentine National Team, Molina will make the switch from Udinese to Atlético Madrid to take a leap forward in his career. At the age of 24, Molina will arrive at an optimal moment of his career, to continue his development in one of the strongest leagues in the world, Spain's La Liga.
There are no solid figures at the moment, althought it was reported by Spanish newspaper Marca that Udinese would not entertain offers below 20 million euros, while some sources claim the move would be done for 15 millions and the transfer of Atletico Madrid's Nehuen Pérez.
Speaking to Marca some months ago, Molina explained his feelings when moving to European football: "I had very high expectations, but the club has exceeded them. Going from Argentina to Italy makes you raise the level of attention, in decision making". He also explained what he felt when playing alongside Messi in the Argentina National Team: "Playing with Leo is a crazy thing that I never imagined. Not even when I debuted in the First Division with Boca could I think that everything would move so fast. Coming to Italy, going to the national team... Being able to play with Leo is a dream".
A graduate from the Boca Juniors youth ranks, where he made his debut in 2016, Nahuel Molina then played for Defensa y Justicia between 2017 and 2019, and for Rosario Central between in 2020, before moving to Udinese, where quickly stood out. The Argentine has already played 68 games for the Italian team, with 10 goals and 7 assists to his name.
