ONLY MADRID: Tchouameni chose Los Blancos over anyone else
The AS Monaco prospect will allegedly be announced in the coming days, with the deal reportedly done and dusted
It may be hard to believe, but if one team had their ego bruised a little bit in the past few weeks, it has to be Real Madrid. They lifted their 14th Champions League trophy as a well as their 35th LaLiga, but the controversy over Kylian Mbappé's refusal to join Los Blancos seemed to cover it all. That needed fixing and Aurelién Tchouaméni seems to be the guy to do it.
While he may not be one of the best players in the world right now, the soon-to-be ex Monaco player is one of the top prospects in the world, and one that many top clubs were after. However, as it has come to light recently, Tchouaméni never had any doubts in his mind. According to journalist Fabrizio Romano, despite calls from Klopp to join Liverpool and PSG offering a better offer, it has come to be known the player wanted Real Madrid and only Real Madrid.
Personal terms were actually agreed before the Champions League final in Paris, and all that remained was to reach an agreement with the club. It was reported that Monaco wanted upwards of 80 million euros for their player, and it seems that will be the case, with The Athletic's David Ornstein reporting the complete package will be worth over 100 millions.
Tchouaméni will sign a five year contract, and is expected to be announced very soon, with the club also announcing the contract renewal of Croatian maestro Luka Modric, a move that's sure to keep the Real Madrid midfield in good shape for present and future.
Aurélien Tchouaméni, who came through the academy at Bordeaux, joined the Monegasque side in January 2020. He's played 50 matches for Monaco this season, scoring 5 goals and providing 3 assists. He's also an international, making his senior international debut in September 2021.
