SUE THEM: A legend with EXPLOSIVE comments on De Jong situation
One of the best players of his generation told Frenkie de Jong he should take Barcelona to court over his current problem
The situation FC Barcelona midfielder Frenkie de Jong is going through invites people to talk. The Dutchman is currently at a standstill with his current club, where he's given the option to either take a move he doesn't want or lower his well earned wages to stay a the club he's called his "dream club". In this context, Manchester United legend Gary Neville was blunt when he spoke about De Jong's future.
Through his Twitter account, Neville encouraged the Dutch midfielder to sue FC Barcelona due to the club's handling of this transfer market: " De Jong should consider legal action [against] Barcelona and all players should be behind him! " He added: "A club spending fortunes on new players whilst not paying the ones they have under contract their full money is immoral and a breach. FIFPro should be all over bullying like this and stop it". FIFPro, we do well to remember, is the organization that represent professional footballers world-wide.
This comments come as it was revealed that FC Barcelona owe approximately 17 million euros to De Jong in delayed salary payments. Now, the Catalan club are asking the Dutchman to sign a new deal at a reduced wages to remain at the club. However, the club has not been shy in their spending during this transfer window, forking out more than 100 million euros in the transfers of Robert Lewandowski and Raphinha, as well as adding Franck Kessie and Andreas Christensen on a free.
Manchester United reached an agreement for the Dutchman with the Blaugranas in exchange for a complete package of around 85 million euros, but so far the move remains stalled as De Jong wishes to remain with the Spanish team.
