The INCREDIBLE reason Jules Koundé is YET TO DEBUT with Barcelona
The Frenchman was one of the signings of the summer, but he's yet to play for his new club
FC Barcelona fans worldwide are showing big, wide smiles. The Blaugrana tore Real Sociedad apart last week to get their first win of the new season, with goals Robert Lewandowski, Ousmane Dembele and Ansu Fati. With doomsday predictions by many before the market opened, the Catalan giants have made a good job of giving manager Xavi Hernández a competitive team. However some issues are still there.
Noticeably, someone who was missing from their 4-1 thomping of Sociedad was their star signing for the defence, Jules Koundé. That's because, despite the selling of several assets to get the income they needed to register some of their new signings, Barcelona are still some few millions off their target.
As reported by Spanish newspaper AS, the Blaugranas are eager to offload players as they look to raise the 20 million euros needed to register new signing Jules Kounde. Selling periphery players, like Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, who has been linked to Chelsea and Manchester United and Memphis Depay, who is in negotiations with Juventus, is likely to earn the funds necessary to sign Kounde.
On the matter, Xavi was clear in his outlook. "It doesn't bother me that players don't want to leave, everyone looks to their future; it bothers me not being able to have Kounde", explained the Spanish coach. "Kounde is a great leader and a great player. Hopefully he shows it soon. He has trained very well, I see him in good spirits, but we need to sell players to be able to register him. That's the priority".
