Legend drops a BOMB on Barça: "Cruyff would be ASHAMED of them"
One of the world's biggest legends hit the Catalan giants HARD over the way they conduct themselves
Marco Van Basten dropped an absolute bomb on Barcelona. The Dutch striker may not be a big name in the minds of today's fans, but there was a time when every supporter in the world would have killed to have the three-time Ballon d'Or winner on their team. Now, the FC Barcelona board would surely like to have him on their side, as he went all in on them regarding the Frenkie de Jong situation.
Marco van Basten wasn't happy about how Barcelona are treating Frenkie de Jong
"I think that Johan Cruyff would have been ashamed to see how Barça behaved today", said Van Basten during an interview with Dutch TV channel Ziggo Sport. The former Ajax and Milan legend was appaled at how the Blaugrana club have treated his countryman Frenkie de Jong regarding his exit from the club: "In my opinion, Barcelona's behavior has been far below their standards".
But he didn't stop there. According to Van Basten, the main culprit behind the attacks on De Jong has a full name: Joan Laporta. "It is very difficult for a player if he is discredited by the club president. The president's behavior is antisocial, it is of a very low level", ruled the two-time European Cup winner.
Aware of where this treatment to De Jong is coming from, Van Basten felt it was a distasteful and disgraceful behaviour from the Catalan giants: "They try to publicly discredit these players to take them away". He also warned De Jong not to let himself be treated this way: "They should go to the players union or FIFA, players cannot be treated like that".

In the last weeks, with a potential move to Manchester United all but dead in the water, the options that have arisen for Frenkie de Jong are clear: a move to Chelsea (which reports suggest he finds slightly more enticing than one to United) or lowering his wages. All this while Barcelona keep insisting they want him there, but also keep signing players.
