Bayern chasing Dembele: Barça fears losing him for free
The Frenchman's deal is set to expire soon, and the Bavarian giants are allegedly keen on taking him on a free transfer
Barcelona may have just found their biggest rival on this tranfer window. Despite the upswing in form that has taken place under manager Xavi Hernández, the Spanish club are still struggling with their economic reality, and it's a situation that other clubs will be looking to take advantage of.
It seems like the main culprit in this case will be Bayern Munich. Not only do the German giants hold most of the keys when it comes to Barça signing their target Robert Lewandowski, but it's now also transpired they're after one of the Blaugrana players, French forward Ousmane Dembele
Dembele's deal expires at the end of June, and the Bavarian giants are allegedly keen on taking him to the Allianz Arena on a free transfer. While there haven't been any firm offers so far, according to Spanish newspaper Marca, Barça fear their offer will be vastly overshadowed by any potential deal Bayern Munich can present.
The key the Catalan giants are keeping to themselves is none other than Xavi. Their offer is to be presented in their next meeting with the player and they hope a performance bonuses-heavy contract and Xavi's project can convince the Frenchman to remain in Barcelona, against more financially solid propositions by the German club.
