The PREMIER LEAGUE club that wants to take Aubameyang away from Barça
The Gabon international could be on his way back to England after just six months in Barcelona
FC Barcelona could take a very hard and unexpected blow if the latest market rumour materializes: Chelsea FC is coming for Pierre Emerick Aubameyang. The Gabon striker arrived at the Blaugrana club just six months ago from Arsenal, and now could be on his way back to the Premier League. The rumour came out of nowhere, and could prove a challenge for Barça who, despite having Robert Lewandowski now, still consider the Gabonese a strong option.
As reported by journalist Fabrizio Romano, "Chelsea are now considering Pierre Emerick Aubameyang as potential new striker. Discussions have already started on player side, still no bid to Barcelona. He's one of the names in Chelsea list after meeting for Sesko and other targets".
For their part, Spanish newspaper Sport assures that this heats up the market situation, but they see it as reasonable: "The striker knows that with the arrival of Lewandowski he will have fewer minutes than last season and Barça may be interested in lowering the wage bill".
For his part, Aubameyang is already in talks with Chelsea. He's allegedly interested in the move, which would make him once again the leading striker in a top team. Chelsea are still in the process of rebuilding the team. While, Raheem Sterling arrived from Manchester City, Romelu Lukaku went to Inter, and now Timo Werner could even emigrate to return to RB Leipzig, so more signings will be needed in the remainder of this month of August.
Pierre Emerick Aubameyang still has another year in his contract, so Barcelona could also be looking to sell him now, before having to let him move on a free deal if the season does not go according to plan. For Chelsea, this could be an important coup, after having "lost" against Barcelona in the signings of Jules Koundé and Raphinha, while they're also now working on the signing of Frenkie de Jong.
