He DESTROYED Xavi: "You can talk all you want, but the result is what it is"
The Barcelona manager had said that he felt his team deserved more, but one of his rivals isn't all that convinced
Bayern Munich's victory over FC Barcelona on their second match of the Champions League group stage left a lot to talk about. The German team was pragmatic and did not fail when it came to scoring, while Barcelona fell to one of their classic problems: a lot of possession but nothing to show on the scoreboard. That is why it's hard to say the 2-0 result was unfair, and that was the outlook of Lucas Hernández, who scored the first goal, and replied to the comments made by Xavi Hernandez.
"I don't know if you watch me often, but I don't usually score many goals. The few I score I'm going to try to celebrate as much as possible". Hernandez told Spanish radio show Partidazo de COPE . When the host of the show told him of Xavi's comments about Barça deserving something more from the match, the Frenchman wasn't happy.
"Well, in the end the result is what it is. If a team leaves without any goals conceded and deserves the victory... Barça was at a great level, but what counts is the goals and today they were not successful". For the defender, one of the keys was to marking his former teammate Robert Lewandowski out of the game: "We defended Lewandowski very well, and we knew he was going to have his chances. We had to be close", also adding that "Before the game I wished Lewandowski luck". The bad news for Lucas Hernández is that he was injured and will be on the sidelines for a month.
Another of the match issues that Hernández was consulted on is about a potential foul on Ousmane Dembélé by Alphonso Davies, which the Barcelona bench claimed was a penalty: "A penalty on Dembélé? I haven't seen it. If the referee did not give it and the VAR has not seen it, you can talk all you want, but the result is what it is". For those who don't remember, Lucas Hernández, like his brother Theo who currently plays at AC Milan, lived in Madrid for a long time during their childhood, and both came through the Atlético Madrid academy.
