Salihamidzic SKEPTICAL on potential De Ligt deal for Bayern
The Bayern Munich director visited Juventus to negotiate for the Dutchman, but he didn't seem all that confident.
Skeptical? That could be one way to describe Hasan Salihamidzic mood on his visit to Juventus to discuss the deal for Matthjis de Ligt, the latest transfer saga of the many in which Bayern Munich has seen themselves embroiled this season. And there's a lot to follow.
As reported by journalist Fabrizio Romano, the Bayern Sporting Director visited the Italian city of Turin to discuss the possibilities of a move for the Bianconeri's Matthijs de Ligt. The Dutch defender is unhappy at Juve following unsuccessful contract renewal discussions and is now looking for move before he enters the final year of his contract.
At first, Chelsea and Manchester United had emerged as the only potential suitors to De Ligt, but now Bayern Munich is looking like they're leading the race. With personal terms already agreed with the player, Salihamidzic hopped on a plane to Turin to move the negotiations with La Vecchia Signora forward. However, it not looking like things are going along what they wanted.
When questioned on the matter after his arrival at Turin, Salihamidzic, who's fluent in Italian after having played for Juve himself between 2007 and 2011, simply answered "Vediamo", which translates to "We'll see", and shrugged.
Reports have it that Bayern Munich, like most clubs, are struggling to reach the 120 million euros of the release clause that Juventus are asking for Matthjis de Ligt, despite initial hopes in Germany that the deal would only cost 60 to 80 million euros.
