HAALAND'S REPLACEMENT: Dortmund to pay 40 million for Ajax star
The German side have the unenviable task of replacing one of the world's top talents, but they may have found it.
It's been several weeks since the market began in European football and possibly, Borussia Dortmund has one of the most difficult tasks of the moment: replacing Erling Haaland. The Norwegian striker left for Manchester City for 70 million euros and the German club will have to reduce the margin of error in hiring since they has to replace a footballer who scored 30 or 40 goals per season. At this time there were several names that appeared but the chosen one would be a bombshell: Sebastien Haller.
The Ajax striker is the target of Borussia Dortmund Of Franco-Ivorian origin and 27 years old, he was one of the great stars of Dutch football last season: he scored 34 goals in 3,403 minutes with Ajax. Haller arrived at the Dutch club in January 2021 from West Ham in exchange for 22.5 million euros.

The offer presented by Borussia Dortmund is reported to be around 35 million euros, with the total package being worth 40 million euros. Haller reached the knockout stages of the Champions League with Ajax, a competition in which he made his debut and scored 13, only surpassed by Karim Benzema (17) and Robert Lewandowski (16).
"First of all, we have to know that we need a new Erling Haaland. In the end, the truth is that we gave him a release clause, otherwise he would have gone to Manchester United. He has a decision to make, eventually it will come. The important thing is that all of this will continue. If Borussia Dortmund can do one thing, it is to find their next star. A team always wins more than a player," said Hans-Joachim Watzke, CEO of Borussia Dortmund.
Erling Haaland managed to accumulate in just 2 years playing in Germany an incredible total of 86 goals in 89 matches with Borussia Dortmund. Sebastian Haller has a contract until 2025 with Ajax but he will push to leave and join the Bundesliga side.
