"He's happy and won't return": the player Potter will miss out on thanks to Tuchel
The Englishman has only just taken over at Chelsea, but he's now dealing with the aftermath of the German's time at Stamford Bridge
Graham Potter will get no love from Romelu Lukaku. It will soon be a year since the Belgian started to burn his bridges at Chelsea, after commenting in an interview with TV network Sky Italia that he hoped for a return to Inter Milan. He got his wish this last summer, although many hoped for a vindication at Stamford Bridge under new boss Potter come next June; for now, there won't be such thing.
"I really hope in the depths of my heart to return to Inter, not at the end of my career, but at a still good level to hopefully win more", were the big Belgian's words; his relationship with then-Blues boss Thomas Tuchel was utterly broken and he had nothing to hope for other than a return to the club were he had been happy. And yet, his signing still belongs to Chelsea, and many hoped that with Tuchel getting the sack, perhaps Lukaku was ready to give it another go.
But it will have to wait. According to Italian newspaper La Gazzetta dello Sport, the Lukaku has no intention of going back to Chelsea. As reported by the newspaper, the Belgian has rediscovered his happiness in the city of Milan and is delighted to have returned to Inter. The Nerazzurri will seek to renew his loan contract next summer, which should be confirmed regardless of this season's results.
"I think that in a year everyone has forgotten some things that I am able to do in the field", Romelu Lukaku pointed out after his return to Inter Milan was confirmed. "That's some kind of anger that I have inside of me. Which now the team also has, which did not win last year: all together we hope to do better and bring something home". It's bad news for Graham Potter, who through no fault of his own will miss out on one of the biggest talents in his squad.
