"He must be FUMING": Former United Star on Ronaldo's situation
One of his former teammates at Old Trafford spoke about the Portuguese star's problems with his club
Nobody knows what's going on inside Cristiano Ronaldo's head, but if someone has a better clue of what could be happening, it has to be his former teammates. One of such teammates is none other than former Manchester United starter and England international Rio Ferdinand, and according to retired centreback, Ronaldo must be very angry right now.

This summer, there has been much speculation over Ronaldo's future because the Portuguese player has made it clear through a number of outlets that he wants to leave the team. Seemingly non-concerned with the feeling, manager Erik ten Hag started Marcus Rashford at centre striker, which means the 37-year-old Portuguese was benched for United's last two games against Liverpool and Southampton.
With this context, Ferdinand was recently asked about the situation, and he was clear in his take. "Whether he stays or not, none of us know. But knowing Cristiano [Ronaldo], I know for a fact that he will be absolutely fuming right now", commented the former Leeds United man.
"Forget who's starting in front of him, [think about the fact] he's not starting. You don't get to do what he's done in his career over this amazing amount of time at the levels he's been playing by being someone who's going to accept not starting and being a sub for a team that isn't in the Champions League", added Ferdinand, "Ronaldo is not built like that,' he said. 'You can't expect him to change at 37 [years-old]"
"He'd have been the same at 21 [years-old]. We were talking before the game with [Paul] Scholes...I remember when [David] Beckham got dropped a couple of games, the [Real] Madrid game [in 2003] etc., he [was] fuming. Superstars are built differently", explained the former England international, who played with Ronaldo between 2003 and 2009, "They don't believe they have bad games, they don't believe they don't play well [and] they don't believe they get things wrong in their game because they are so hell-bent on success and their belief in their skills and themselves that they don't see failures".
With many in the media questioning whether the Portuguese puts in enough effort for the squad, and whether he is a liability when it comes to the modern game's pressing intensit, Ferdinand got in on the discussion by explaining what Ronaldo could think of individuals who question his commitment to the team's work ethic: "Whatever anyone says about running, pressing etc., he will be sitting there going "I scored 24 goals last season. The hardest thing to do in football is putting the ball in the back of the net and I did it 24 times last year".

However, Rio Ferdinand acknowledged that it will be difficult for the move to happen, regardless of what Cristiano Ronaldo brings or not to any team. "Financially, I just don't think it's going to be happening in this window" the former Manchester United defender said.
