CLOSER THAN EVER: Liverpool nearing on top signing
The Uruguayan striker seems to be inching closer to Merseyside when days ago everything pointed to him making a move to Manchester
The last few days have only had room for one name in transfer gossip: Darwin Nuñez. The Uruguayan striker has been on everyone's lips as he's become a top target for many top clubs, not least of them Manchester United and Liverpool.
Now, it's looking like the transfer saga that has kept everyone updating Twitter constantly is nearing an end, and it could not be any more different that it started. That's because when Nuñez's name came up, it seemed like it was only a matter of time for the Benfica man to become a Red Devil. Now, it seems his destiny will be on the other side of the M62.
That's because, according to The Athletic's David Ornstein, Nuñez would've agreed terms with Jurgen Klopp's Liverpool, meaning all that remains is for the clubs to reach an agreement on the transfer fee, which should be of around 80 million euros, if Benfica gets their wish.
Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp is a known admirer of Nuñez's game, having said about him before a Champions League clash between the two clubs: "Extremely good looking boy, huh? And a decent player as well. Really good. I knew before, of course, but he played pretty much in front of me with his tough battles with Ibrahima Konate. He was physically strong, quick, was calm around his finish. I always say in these situations if he is healthy, it's a big career ahead of him".
As things stand, it looks like the only battles Darwin Nuñez will be having with Konate will be during training, and not during tense Premier League matches against him.
