Not a Haaland tribute: the real reason for Kevin De Bruyne's goal celebration
Kevin De Bruyne made a gesture that caught everyone's attention, but it was not for the reason many thought
Kevin De Bruyne was the protagonist of a sensational performance in Manchester City's 5-1 win against Wolverhampton where he dispatched himself with decisive poker.
During the celebration of his third goal, the Belgian footballer made a gesture that caught everyone's attention: he closed his fingers as if during meditation and many took it as a welcome message for soon-to-be Manchester City player Erling Haaland, as this is one the Norwegian's characteristic goal celebrations.
However, he was far from that. After the victory, De Bruyne spoke to the press and when asked about this situation, he did not hesitate to tell the truth.
"Everyone told me about it (laughs). Honestly, I didn't even know (that Haaland was celebrating by doing something similar). I did it because he had 3 goals," he said with a smile.
De Bruyne showed a four with his fingers after his fourth goal and he only dedicated himself to keeping track of the goals he converted as the game progressed.
The Belgium star has scored 19 goals and given 13 assists in 43 games played this season with the team. In addition, he registers a total of 86 points and 116 assists in 305 games since his arrival in August 2015.
