Origi joins Milan as Liverpool REVAMPS for the future

The Belgian forward was a cult hero at Anfield, but the club needs to move ahead to remain competitive

 Some players have a way to entering history, maybe not through the grand entrances, but by being at the right place and the right time. Divock Origi is certainly one of those players, and he will be missed at Liverpool.

While the renovation of Mohammed Salah makes it look like the show will go on at Anfield, truth is Jurgen Klopp's side are facing a key season for their status as perennial title contenders. The first great Liverpool team under Klopp is slowly coming apart, with the departure of the likes of Sadio Mané this season, as well as the likes of Gini Wijnaldum in 2021-22 and Dejan Lovren the season prior.

The Reds are going through a low-key rebuild, with players who were key in seasons prior like Roberto Firmino and James Milner slowly giving way newer additions like Luis Diaz and Diogo Jota, and Divock Origi's departure will add to that.

In a time when big centreforwards seemed like a thing of the past, an ancient relic of a bygone era, the big Belgian centreforward was one of Jurgen Klopp's tricks up his sleeve. His iconic goals against Barcelona and Tottenham in the Champions League won't be forgotten, but all things must pass, and so must players move away. 

Divock Origi now joins AC Milan on a free deal, with the idea of taking on a more vital role. He signs a deal until 2026, with a reported wage of 4 million euros a year. He'll be adding to the Rossoneri the same energy and physical presence he lended the Anfield side, but he'll never be forgotten by the Kop.
