Felipe Melo PRANKED Flamengo after derby win recreating this meme
The Brazilian had an original way of mocking his team's rivals, but where did the inspiration come from?
Fluminense won the Rio de Janiero Derby against Flamengo and Felipe Melo didn't hesitate to mock his rivals. The derby, better known as the "Fla-Flu" due to the names of the clubs or the "Clássico das Multidões" (Derby of the Crowds) due to the enormous following both clubs boast, it's one of the biggest in Brazil. Despite being a self-confessed Flamengo fan, the former Juventus and Inter Milan is nonetheless a Fluminense player now, and he had no problems to mock the historic rival.
With over 400 matches played between the two, and more than 110 years passed since their first clash, it's fair to say "Fla-Flu" is a duel on pair with the biggest derbies in world football. As such, crazy celebrations are always to be expected, but Melo went ahead with a rather original one.
The match was won by Fluminense by 2-1 in a tense game, where there were five players sent off and plenty of physical tackles, with goals by Ganso and Nathan for the winners, while Gabriel Barbosa got one for Flamengo. It was after the victory that Felipe Melo uploaded his celebration to social media.
It's a video, where he can be seen entering a room with a Fluminense shirt, glasses and drink, and then he greets to the camera saying "Buen dia, hermosa mañana, no?" in Spanish, which translates to "Good day, beautiful morning, isn't it?". However, where does this come from?
In reality, Melo recreated a scene from a 1991 movie with Argentine comedian Guillermo Francella, where he shows up and says that exact line. Francella himself has at times recreated his own famous line to celebrate when his beloved Racing Club de Avellaneda won an important match.
We'll never know where did Felipe Melo get the idea, although it's more than likely that it was put together with his Argentine teammate Germán Cano, who the former Brazil international recently called "the best striker in Brazilian football", and who's on 33 goals in 58 games for Fluminense so far this season.
