UNBELIEVABLE: Gareth Bale visits his future club and it's not what you expect
The Welsh star could be on the move soon, but it's a long way from the likes of Real Madrid
The question of where will Gareth Bale play the last matches of his career has been one that has been on the minds of many. While the Welshman has said that he would retire should his country fail to qualify for the 2022 World Cup, their defeat of Ukraine in the play off put that matter to rest for now.
The question that remained, however, was where he would play between then and the big occasion. Had Qatar 2022 been played between June and July, like every World Cup since 1930, there would be no question. But since the extreme temperatures in the Middle East force the competition to be held in December, there's a six month span that remain unaccounted for Bale. With his contract at Real Madrid set to be over at the end of June, he'll have to join a new club to remain fit for the time being... but where?
Bale and his agent have insisted that they have lots of offers on the table, but rumours have showed they may be bluffing on that one. The only reports on solid offers for the former Tottenham man have come from Spanish mid table side Getafe and Cardiff City, while he reportedly had a call from José Mourinho to join Roma.
Now, according to Welsh newspaper Wales Online, Bale is visiting the training ground of his soon-to-be new club, although its a long way, both geographically and sporting-wise, from Real Madrid.
The media outlet is reporting that Bale has visited the Cardiff City training facilities to talk with club manager Steve Morison about joining the Bluebirds. They expect his final decision in the coming days, in order to seal the move.
Should it happen, it would see Bale's return to Welsh football for the first time since he left Cardiff Civil Service Football Club in 1999 to join Southampton's youth academy, a move sure to embolden Welsh fans across the country.
Cardiff City has been playing in the EFL Championship, the second tier of English football, since they were relegated from the Premier League in 2019. Last season was their worst since returning to the Championship, finishing outside the top half for the first time.
