The mystery of where will Gareth Bale continue his career rages on. The Welsh forward has said that he has "lots of offers", but so far the only clubs that had come up as having reached to him were his hometown club of Cardiff City, playing in the second tier of the English leagues, and Spanish minnows Getafe.

Now, however, a more interesting option seems like it could be coming up. According to Spanish newspaper El NacionalJosé Mourinho is interested in the former Real Madrid man.

Mourinho is looking for ways to improve the Roma squad without the high expenditures of big transfer fees, and has been on the look out for free transfer opportunities. Bale would be the latest on a list of potential targets. The Portuguese manager had already tried to sign Bale back when he was in charge of Manchester United and then became his manager when he coached Tottenham where Bale spent the season on loan during 2020-21.

According to the El Nacional, Mourinho would have communicated with Bale's agent, Jonathan Barnett, who he has known for a long time, about the possibility of the Welsh star joining AS Roma this summer, in a bid to bridge the gap that separates the Giallorossi from the Champions League positions.

It remains to be seen whether Bale will be interested in the move, as Roma is bound to want a longer term deal, whereas the former Tottenham man was eyeing retirement before sealing Wales' spot in the World Cup.
