UNBELIEVABLE: Gareth Bale could up play the World Cup as a free agent
The Welshman has no club so far, and there doesn't seem to be many takers
It will forever be very hard (nearly impossible) to define the relationship between Gareth Bale and Real Madrid. When Los Blancos forked a world transfer record fee for the Welshman, they were most likely thinking they were getting another Cristiano Ronaldo. Things could not be further from that.

While Bale was an effective player for Madrid, winning all kinds of silverware and scoring iconic goals (incluiding two in two different Champions League finals), his relationship with the club was always tense. His failure (and disinterest) in learning Spanish, his unwillingless to take part in team-building activities and an eternity of controversies with the media has made it very hard for him to be remembered in the same light as other players of the same era.
That's all gone now, as Bale will be released from Real Madrid. But that leaves another problem... where will he play? Word from his agent was that Bale was to retire should Wales fail to qualify to Qatar 2022, but with the Dragons beating Ukraine in the qualification play-off to make it to the World Cup for the first time in 64 years, where will the former Real Madrid man play for the coming six months until then?
While the player has insisted he has "loads of offers", it became known now that Tottenham won't be chasing their former player, with his latest loan spell at the club during the 2020/21 season proving largely a failure. It won't be a move to MLS either, with interest gone unanswered by Bale. Should this find no solution, it could be the case that he could be representing his home nation at Qatar a free agent, having played no club football in the last five months.

However, it's now looking like there could be a destination. Just not a very prestigious or glamorous one. Cardiff City, who currently play in the English Football League Championship, the second division of English football, are looking to sign the player on a free deal. It would be home return for Bale, who never played for Cardiff City despite being born in the City, but did so for Cardiff Civil Service FC, before moving to Southampton in 1999 aged 10.
