LOCKED DOWN: Barça puts ONE BILLION EUROS release clause on top prospect

Barça would do well to learn from Real Madrid for some things, and it seems they're doing it. We've talked about Los Blancos' smarts when it came to lock down their stars, in particular the big contracts that Vinicius Jr. and Rodrygo recently signed. While Barça have lost top youngsters in the past, they've wised up now and are reportedly close to lock one of their top prospects: Gavi.
Gavi looks set to remain a Barcelona player for time to come
That was confirmed by Barcelona's Sporting Director Mateu Alemany, who spoke on the matter during Franck Kessie's presentation. "There is a beginning of agreement with the player and the agent, but we cannot sign him to a contract of more than three years until he turns 18", explained Alemany.
With the youngster set to turn 18 in less than a month, on August 8th, the contract could be announced after that date. "In the mean time, we're working to solve some small detais to be work on in non-fundamental issues, but rest assured that Gavi will continue with us 100%", confirmed the Sporting Director.
It's also worth pointing out that there may be some issues regarding the FFP calendar, where the potential departures of Clement Lenglet and Samuel Umititi could help the club.
Another of the big issues will be that of the release clause, which every footballer in Spain must have in their contracts. Reports have spoken of a 1 billion euros clause, same as Vinicius and Rodrygo, which would put the midfielder out of reach for every potential suitor.

Gavi played 47 matches for the Blaugranas last season, scoring two goals and providing six assists as one of the most interesting prospects from this new class from La Masia.
