INCREDIBLE: Aguero compares Haaland to the likes of Ronaldo and Lewandowski
The Argentine striker scored plenty of goals for Manchester City, but he thinks Haaland could match up with some of the best ever
He may have scored arguably the most famous goal in the history of Manchester City, but Sergio Aguero thinks Erling Haaland can score plenty more than he ever did. The Norwegian is the Sky Blues' newest star and the Argentine has compared him to some of the greatest goalscorers in history.
Haaland has had an incredible start to his career at the Etihad, scoring 20 goals in his first 13 games in all competitions since joining from Borussia Dortmund in the summer. The 22-year-old may have been rested for City's Champions League match against Copenhagen by manager Pep Guardiola, but he is still on track for a record-breaking Premier League campaign.
According to Aguero, Haaland could rank already ranks amongs some of the best to ever do it. "There's been many strikers worthy of awe I can think of. One of my favourites was Ronaldo [Nazario], who time and time again proved to be the full package as a player, and a menace before the goalposts", explained Aguero.
"Each era usually has two or three players with that ability - and usually with different styles. Diego [Maradona], Romario, Lewandowski, [Zlatan] Ibrahimovic, and Leo, of course. Each had their own flair but they were all tremendous scorers to a fault", he added.
"Speaking of Haaland specifically, he's got potency, athleticism, and a particular instinct for goals, which makes him very dangerous", pointed out the Argentine, who scored 260 goals himself in 390 games for Manchester City, "He's got everything to keep racking up amazing stats, especially being part of an offensively-minded team like City. That, in turn, means plenty of opportunities to score. He's young and has a lot of potential to continue breaking records. Key to this, of course, will be consistency".
