Alf-Inge Håland was born in Norway in 1972. He trained at Bryne FK, where he made his debut at the age of 18. Unlike his son, Alf-Inge wanted to avoid goals, not convert them, so he played as a defender. In 1997, Nottingham Forest was relegated to the second division and for this reason, the defender signed a new contract with a new team, Leeds United.
