The Argentine striker is calling it a career after 18 years and 350 goals

 In an totally unexpected press conference, Gonzalo Higuain announced that he will be retiring from professional football at the end of the 2022 season with Inter Miami. The former striker for Real Madrid, Juventus and Chelsea, couldn't hold back the tears as he communicated his decision to hang his boots and he explained the reason.

"Today I want to tell you my story, it's time to tell you a piece of news that I have been processing, the day has come to say goodbye to football, a profession in which I felt privileged. This year was one that I enjoyed the most, I never thought that the MLS He was going to give me that," Higuain explained.

"After seventeen and a half years of the most wonderful professional career I have ever had, I feel that football has given me a lot, having given everything of myself and more", he added during an emotional press conference, "Thank you very much to those who always trusted me, the time has come to say goodbye".

The forward began his career with Argentinian giants River Plate before moving on to Real Madrid, where he won three league championships in seven years. After that, Higuain experienced his best period of his career with Napoli, where he scored 36 goals in 35 games to tie the record for most goals in a Serie A season.

Throught his 18-year career, Gonzalo Higuain scored more than 350 goals and won 14 titles. He played for River Plate, Real Madrid, Napoli, Juventus, AC Milan, Chelsea and Inter Miami. With  the Argentine National Team, Higuain managed to be runner-up in the 2014 World Cup in Brazil and in the 2015 and 2016 Copa América.
