He looked set to be a TOP STAR but now could move to Europa League club
He looked destined for the top of European football, but his career got derailed and now could start a new chaper
Football is about technique, physicality and smarts, but it's also about being at the right place at the right time. Making a career move too early or too late is just the same as making a pass too short or too long; if you make a mistake, you don't quite get were you wanted to be. For Houssem Aouar, this seems to be the problem.
The 24 year old French midfielder looked set to be one of the next top stars as he put together a brilliant 2019-20 season for Olympique Lyonnais on Ligue 1 and become one of the best young midfielders to watch. However, Lyon asked too much for his tranfer, his options turned to smoke, and two dismal campagns later, his stock is as low as when he first broke into the first team.
Now, his options to rebuild his career come from Spain, as he's on the sights of one of the country's most followed teams outside the big two: Real Betis. The Verdiblancos were Copa del Rey winners last season and finished just outside the Champions League spots, missing out on just five points from historic rivals Sevilla.
While far from the top clubs that chased him not too long ago, reports have it that the player is keen on starting a new chapter, and with Lyon open to sell and cash in on a player with decreasing value, it could be a great opportunity for both sides. As reported by journalist Fabrizio Romano, Houssem Aouar is expected to give his final answer very soon, looking likely to depart from the club where he scored eight and assisted four in 44 matches last season.
