"You have to dive like clowns": Mourinho FURIOUS with Serie A referees
The Portuguese manager was sent off after his side was denied a penalty and he had a word or two about refereeing standards in Italy
No matter what club he runs, which league he plays or which country he's on, José Mourinho is never far from controversy; in his latest bit of madness, he's now suggesting to his players they should dive. The AS Roma boss was furious about his side dropping points to Atalanta at home after a controversial call, and he did not hold back.

Mourinho was furious after referee Daniele Chiffi denied his Giallorossi when Nicolo Zaniolo fell inside the box just before the hour mark. The Porguese manager was enraged that his team was refused the penalty and he was sent off from the pitch, with Roma losing their second game of the new season.
"I tried to speak to Chiffi after the game; if a referee tells me that it can never be a penalty if a player does not fall over, then I will have to start telling my players to fall over. I asked him to tell me why he had not given a penalty, but Chiffi did not give me a clear answer", explained Mourinho after the game.
The Portuguese went further on, suggesting that it was the fault of his players for not "selling" the fault enough to the referee and questioned some of the fouls that are given in Serie A: "I have to change my advice to my players, I have to tell them don't try to stay on your feet, don't play the ball, be a clown the way many who dive like they're in a swimming pool do in this league, because that is evidently how you get penalties".

Still, José Mourinho was happy with way Roma played, claiming they deserved far more from the game, after which they're four points away from the top. "It was the easiest match for us to win so far this season - in other matches like the Monza and Cremonese games we haven't had control for 90 minutes like that. With Paulo Dybala available maybe things would have worked out differently. We might have scored, but now we can only guess at that", the Portuguese manager explained, "But objectively speaking we played really well, we were in control and created a lot of chances against a side that defends well and that's something. But Atalanta were lucky, and that's something too".
