It was looking like Chelsea had it all tied up to pull off one of the signings of the summer, but things seem now like are going off the rails. That's becasue while their move for Sevilla's Jules Koundé appeared to be moving on rails, things have changed.

Concretly, the difference is that now one of the biggest clubs in the world seem set on signing the Frenchman, FC Barcelona. The long-time target of the Blues is now on "advanced talks" with Barça, according to reports from Spanish radio network Catalunya Radio.

However, there are mixed reports as to how this deal would work. According to Roger Torelló from Barcelona newspaper Mundo Deportivo, Koundé would be willing to sign a lower contract than that which Chelsea has offered. On the other hand, Luis Miguelsanz from Catalunian newspaper Sport, reports the French defender would not be ready to do just that, placing the total cost of the operation at 150 million euros.

Regardless, everyone agrees that the transfer fee would be around 60 to 65 million euros, something Barcelona currently can't afford right now as per FFP rules. To than extent, the list of potential exit at the Blaugranas is long, with Óscar Mingueza, Samuel Umtiti and Clément Lenglet among the names that could depart. It is understood that Sevilla would not be interested in taking any Barcelona players as part of the deal, meaning these players would have to find a new home.

For now, it remains as much a balancing act as a negotiation for FC Barcelona, who remain tied up on LaLiga's financial rules and will have to move assets around if they want to have any chance of bringing reinforcements in.
