GUARDIOLA WANTS HIM: The Premier League star Pep wants to sign
The Sky Blues are set on taking the Champions League next season and look the overhaul their squad
Is there no end to Manchester City's ambitions? Days after having confirmed one of the best signings of the summer and being acused of being breaking FFP, it seems like the Sky Blues and their manager know no boundaries when it comes to improving their side to secure the one trophy that's missing from their cabinet, the Champions League.
Now, having secured a player bound to become a generational talent in Erling Haaland to improve their attack, it looks like Guardiola and City have set their eyes on one of the best Premier League players to provide the Norwegian with the best service. That's because the player they're going after is none other than Leeds United's Yorkshire Pirlo, Kalvin Phillips.
According to UK website Football Insider, Phillips has told Leeds that he wants to move on, after securing Leeds survival last season. According to the sources, despite the player having two years remaining on his contract, it would only take £50m to seal the deal.
Guardiola is reportedly an admirer of Phillips, and with City looking to replace Fernandinho, he's seen as the perfect fit for the coming season. While the Sky Blues are hardly the sole club interested in the player, they are supposedly the prefered option, as Phillips would not be interested in joining a club like Manchester United because of their long standing rivalry with his boyhood club, Leeds United.
A Leeds Academy graduate, Kalvin Phillips has played his entire career so far for the Whites, reaching 234 matches for the first team, with 14 goals and 13 assists from defensive midfield.
