Karim Benzema gets tested as Real Madrid and France hope for the best
The French striker left the pitch injured during the Merengue side clash against Celtic
The image was eloquent and the match against Celtic became nothing but the background. In the middle of the first half of the Real Madrid game, Carlo Ancelotti had to take out Karim Benzema and sub in Eden Hazard because he the Frenchman was struggling with pain in his right knee. The fans of Real Madrid and the entire French National Team feared the worst. As if that were not enough, Benzema got off the bus in pain and walking with difficulty.
Back in Madrid, Benzema underwent detailed tests and the medical report was a relief for everyone because the Frenchman's knee is well, with no meniscus or ligaments damage. "After the tests carried out on our player Karim Benzema by the Real Madrid medical services, he has been diagnosed with an injury to the semitendinosus muscle and an overload on the quadriceps, both in the right thigh. Progress is pending," explained the Merengue outfit.
Benzema will therefore be out of the La Liga match against Mallorca and also out of the derby against Atlético de Madrid for the same tournament to be held on September 18. In addition, he would be absent from the second Champions League presentation against RB Leipzig in Madrid.
In addition to those matches, Benzema would not be considered by Didier Deschamps for the matches against Austria and Denmark that the French National Team will have at the end of the month in the UEFA Nations League. The Real Madrid striker would be officially inactive for a month and would only be available on Sunday, October 2 to receive Osasuna for the 7th date of La Liga.
Karim Benzema's objective is still winning the Qatar 2022 World Cup after barely featuring for France at Brazil 2014 and missing out Russia 2018 due to the extra-football problems he went through. For Real Madrid and France, the medical report is a relief and now the focus is recovery.
