PSG star facing bench or the door as GALTIER makes his choice
One of PSG's best will have to make the decision to settle for the bench or looking pastures new
"I have a good relationship with Keylor Navas. We understand the situation, but it was difficult, and for him too, but let's say that we handled it well, with the whole group and especially with each other. The club will make decisions. I want to stay, I have a contract until 2026 and no, I don't think it can be another season like this, surely it won't happen like this, because I think the club will make a choice. I don't have personal goals, only collective ones," Gianluigi Donnarumma let slide a few weeks ago in an interview with French TV network France24. Christophe Galtier, the new Paris Saint Germain coach, made the decisions.
For Galtier, the future of PSG's goal is in the hands of Donnarumma and that is why Keylor Navas will be a substitute and or find a new club. According to French newspaper L'Equipe, Galtier has already communicated this decision and the age of both is a key factor.
Donnarumma is 23 years old, while Keylor is about to turn 36 and cannot be counted on for the long term future. Despite the mistakes of last season, Donnarumma remains firm as PSG's starting goalkeeper and with the arrival of Galtier that position was further strengthened.
Keylor Navas must now decide whether to continue at PSG or make the decision to move to a club where he is a starter, taking into account that in five months, he will have to play the 2022 Qatar World Cup with the Costa Rica National Team.
"If I want to stay? You have to study a lot of things. Of course, I want to play all the games. In the end, if it's a situation like this year's, it will be complicated," the Costa Rican remarked in dialogue with French TV network Canal Plus, at the end the season.
Keylor Navas allegedly has offers from the Premier League and enquiries from the MLS and from some Serie A clubs. The Costa Rican will have to decide soon since all the clubs are starting their preseasons and are defining the squads for next season.
