Lucas Paquetá: The player who brings class to Premier League
The Brazilian is what David Moyes looks for West Ham
West Ham completed the signing of the Olympique Lyon star Lucas Paquetá, for a club-record fee of 51M Pounds. The Brazilian will sign a five-year contract with an option to extend 12 months more.
Former Flamengo midfielder told English media during his arrival in London: "I am excited to pull on the West Ham shirt and show the fans what I can do, to help my team-mates and the club".
And he is not wrong. His help will be really useful for the Hammers as the new number 11 got stunning numbers last season in France, where he spent only 18 months after arriving in 2020. A time that was enough to impress fans.
Paquetá already knows how to play in London
The 24-year-old is a classy player, with great ball control, dribbling, and a real left-footed class. The elegance he shows while having the ball and his versatility and adaptability helps Lucas to develop in every part of the central midfield: Attacking, center, or defensive.
Being in the back will not make him defend like Casemiro, but will give the team a clean and neat star of the play with the ball. Meanwhile, the attacking role is what suits him the best, as he finished third in dribblings completed during the last Ligue 1 season, provided six assists, and scored nine goals.
With his young age, Paquetá already has more than 100 games played in Europe, a lot for a non-native player. He also counts 33 caps with Brazil international team, scoring in seven opportunities.
To finish with the stats, the midfielder was 5th last year in France of through-balls attempted. This pass and class may be what David Moyes is looking for in order to reach the top six places.
