Luis Campos - a new contract for Messi AND 300 million to work at Chelsea?
The PSG director has worked wonders with the Parisian side, and while he continues his work, he's also had a big offer
The good times are on at Paris Saint Germain. Not that they ever really stop, but when comparing to the doubts and bitterness of the Mauricio Pochettino at the Parc des Princes, there's clearly a different atmosphere with Christophe Galtier at the helm. The architect of this new era for PSG is none other than sporting director Luis Campos, and the former AS Monaco man already has planes to keep the milk and honey flowing.
French newspaper L'Equipe reported that Campos has already started contract negotiations with Lionel Messi and Sergio Ramos. Although the defender has the option to activate a clause for an automatic renewal if both sides agree, the director feels it is vital that discussions about extending their relationship start immediately. Both players' current agreements expire at the end of the season in 2023.
As reported by the French news media, the club as a whole has been quite pleased with Messi and Ramos' performance, and the Portuguese Director would not hesitate to offer them a two-year extension to keep their combination of experience, competitiveness, and effort if they carry on at their current level.
However, there could be some issues. For now, Messi is reported to have spoken with the PSG directors and made it clear that he is not thinking about his future at the moment. According to L'Equipe, the Argentine is only thinking about the Qatar 2022 World Cup, as he wants to be at his physical and football peak.
The Chelsea option
However, PSG may no longer be Luis Campos' main concern very soon. According to information from newspaper Le Parisien, Chelsea would be willing to pay the Portuguese 8 million euros to take the reigns of the club's next two markets, that is, January 2023 and of the summer of 2023, putting at his disposal a budget of 300 million euros.
As reported by the Parisian newspaper, there is no clause in the Luis Campos' contract that would prevent him from working with other clubs, as along with his role of footballing advisor for PSG, he continues to work with Spanish side Celta de Vigo.
