CALCIO STARS: Luis Suárez could be added to the list of stars joining Serie A
The Uruguayan looks set to joining one of the biggest clubs in Italy
The transfer market continues to move forwards and one of the great unknowns is the future of Luis Suárez. The Uruguayan striker remains a free agent after leaving Atlético de Madrid, but little by little his outlook is clearing up. After rejecting Argentinian side River Plate, who was reportedly one step away from signing him, Suárez is training alone in Europe. However, reports now say he may soon be playing for AC Milan.
According to Turkish media reports, Suárez rejected an impressive offer from Fenerbahce, who offered him a two-year contract, with a salary of 6 million euros per year. In this context, AC Milan appeared, which meets all the demands that El Pistolero wanted.
As reports would have it, the Rossoneri are close to singing Suárez, offering the Uruguay National Team striker a one-year contract and with wages of 4 million euros. However, the defending Serie A champions will be playing in the Champions League next season and want Suárez to take the place of Zlatan Ibrahimovic.
Ibra has just undergone ligament surgery and will have a six-month recovery, so his return is scheduled for 2023 at the earliest. "I turn something impossible into something possible. In my mind, I had only one goal: to turn my teammates and the coach into Serie A champions because I made a promise to them. Today I have a new ligament and a new trophy", claimed the Swedish striker recently.
Suárez would arrive to take that place and then fight for it in the Rossoneri squad. Getting the Uruguayan will be another coup for Serie A, who have recently recovered Paul Pogba for Juventus and Romelu Lukaku for Inter, as well as adding the likes of Ángel Di María for the Bianconeri, a signing Gianluigi Buffon compared to Maradona arriving in the 1980s. It is worth remembering that at the time, El Pistolero was close to Juventus but ended up signing with Atlético de Madrid.
Now Luis Suárez will have the ideal context to get to the 2022 Qatar World Cup in the best shape with the Uruguayan National Team, something that he had made his top priority. If reports are correct, he will be arriving in Milan to do the corresponding medical examinations and paperwork and sign his contract with the Italian champions.
