The president of Nacional, José Fuentes, had traveled to Spain to meet with Luis Suárez and spoke about it in an interview: "The meeting was very positive. The contract offered by the club is until the end of the year, with the aim of playing everything and reaching the 2022 World Cup in Qatar in the best shape. Nacional wants Luis Suárez to be able to play until the end of this season, which would be 15 games per the local league and the remainder of the Copa Sudamericana, which would be at least 2 games, both in the quarterfinals against the Brazilians from Atlético Goianiense.
