Despite what many would say, Manchester City is a very historied club, with legends and icons going back to the dawn of the 20th century. However, if one name has come to embody this new post-takeover era, it's got to be Sergio Aguero. The Argentine is synonymous with the Cityzens thanks to his 259 goals, including the one that won them their first league title in 44 years.

That means when he speaks about the Sky Blues, we should listen, and he recently did, in the context of his former teammate Bernardo Silva and the rumours linking him with his former club, FC Barcelona. "Bernardo is a great player. He carries the ball, sacrifices, has the quality to assist and score goals and can play in different positions. I would be surprised if City let him go", commented Aguero on the rumours.

The Argentine, who was part of the Manchester City squad for 10 years between 2011 and 2021, left the Sky Blues to join forces with his childhood friend Lionel Messi at FC Barcelona, a move that went wrong in several ways, as Messi had to depart Barça that very summer, while Aguero had to retire due to a heart condition, making just five appearances with the Blaugranas.

"[Bernardo Silva] is a player who contributes a lot every season, but everything is possible", acknowledged Aguero, who also admitted the Portuguese could be very important for Barcelona if the move goes through: "If he finally comes to Barca, then he will be someone who can be key in the possession game that Xavi likes".

For his own part, Bernardo Silva has remained very cautious about the rumours, always putting his current team first, but never dennying the interest: I've always said I'm happy here, but I have no idea what's going to happen. If I stay, I am very happy and I will always respect this club and give my best. If not, it's football and we'll see what happens". The Portuguese, who has 48 goals and 50 assists for the Sky Blues, also added: "I will always respect my relationship with Manchester City, with the fans, with the staff and with my team-mates. So whatever happens, I'm sure it will happen in a very respectful way".
