Casemiro is joining United and he DESTROYED him: "It screams mercenary"
The Brazilian is about to seal one of the biggest moves of the summer, but some are very critical of him
Manchester United are reported to have just sealed their biggest deal of the summer with the addition of Real Madrid's Casemiro. Having missed on a number of high profile targets, the Old Trafford faithful must be keen to finally secure that big name midfielder Erik ten Hag has been asking for all along. However, some are critical... very critical.
Former Manchester United goalkeeper Ben Foster hit out at Casemiro over the reasons he chose to leave Madrid to join the Red Devils, and he spared no punches. "Why would you want to leave Real Madrid?", commented Foster in an interview with UK radio talkSPORT, "The only reason why you'd want to leave is because someone's said ‘here's £300k a week, you're 30 years old, here's a four or five-year deal'".
The 39 year old goalkeeper, who was part of the Manchester United squad between 2005 and 2010, spoke about where his former club are right now and criticised the money they're spending on players while going nowhere: "I read a thing in the paper and United's wage bill, my gosh, have a look at this bad boy. I'd take a fraction of what some of these guys are on!"
"It's crazy money and even Casemiro, Casemiro doesn't want to leave Real Madrid. He doesn't", insisted Foster, "I know it's Manchester United, I know this, but Manchester United aren't what they used to be. They might statistically be the biggest club in the world and in name, but they are not what they used to be".
The goalkeeper, who last played for Watford, made no attempt to hide where he thought the Brazilian's motivations were: "It screams a little bit of a mercenary". However, Foster was quick to take his words back: "Casemiro isn't a mercenary, he's a centre-mid who will work his socks off".
