Manchester United are scrambling for a new striker, with their latest option Benjamin Sesko agreeing to staying at RB Salzburg for another year after which a move to RB Leipzig is all but guaranteed. With Cristiano Ronaldo still adamant that he wants to depart, the Red Devils are going to need help, and they may get it in the shape of a former player: Mexico legend Javier "Chicharito" Hernández.

The 34 year old striker is currently playing with LA Galaxy in the MLS, but he wouldn't hesitate for one second if his former club were to call him. "Man, I mean, there are these situations and I know the narratives because of my age and my past. If United came for me then I'd say ‘yes, I'll play for free.' Of course, you know, I'd do that", he commented recently in an interview.

Having played for Manchester United between 2010 and 2015, Hernández scored 59 goals and provided 20 assists in 159 matches with the Red Devils, while also lifting the 2010-11 and 2012-13 Premier League titles. However, the Mexican was also conscious of his current commitments: "I also want to be very respectful to my club. I am playing very consistently and in my mind and my world, my conviction is all about winning a championship with LA Galaxy".

On the matter of how Manchester United has adapted to the post-Ferguson eraHernandez was very clear. "It doesn't surprise me because in life it's not easy having a manager for 26 years in the way that Sir Alex did it", he explained, "To substitute that man like that is not easy. It is like winning the lottery. Do you think anyone you hire afterwards is going to be able to do 80 per cent of what Ferguson did? My point of view is that after Ferguson brings so much pressure that it just isn't going to work out. United need to now get over the fact that Sir Alex Ferguson has gone".

Currently on 10 goals from 21 matches in the season with LA Galaxy, Javier Hernández will be playing in the MLS All-Star game, against an All-Star squad of LigaMX stars. "It's a little bit surreal but, I mean, it's cool and it's great", he commented on the matter. "I'm very grateful, very humbled to be in this event, to be chosen by a lot of fans, managers and staff, then obviously being the captain it's amazing".
