Ten Hag is TIRED of De Gea's blunders and is looking to sign this goalkeeper
The Manchester United goalkeeper has had some bad games recently, and they want some competition for him
Despite their recent win against Liverpool, the Manchester United fans will still remember David de Gea's blunders against Brentford. The Spanish goalkeeper was anything but a safe pair of hands against the London outfit, and it's far from the first time he's shown not to be all that reliable in recent times. As such, the Red Devils are told to be eyeing some competition for the position, and German Kevin Trapp is their main objetive.
After a string of unsuccessful seasons, Manchester United is attempting to right the ship with Erik ten Hag at the helm of the new project. Even though the Premier League is already underway, the Red Devils are still searching the market for players to bolster their lineup after their acquisition of Casemiro from Real Madrid and the rumour linking them once again with Ajax's Antony.
However, it looks like goalkeeper is one of their priorities, as reports have emerged of the Old Trafford side offering as much as £180,000 per week to Trapp to become their new shotstopper. The German is coming from an excellent season, winning the UEFA Europa League with Eintracht Frankfurt, and would be a great option to give some competition to De Gea.
"As I said during my first stint in Frankfurt, it's always good when rumors like this come out. This is a nice recognition. But I have nothing to say about it", explained Trapp, who first left the German outfit to join Paris Saint Germain in 2015, before returning in 2018.
Eintracht Frankfurt manager Oliver Glasner also spoke on the potential deal: "From a sporting point of view, of course I want to keep a great goalkeeper and person. He is a great role model and is always one of the first to come to training. But I will not make the final decision". So far, there are no solid reports on the fee Manchester United are putting in front of the German team, although some reports suggest there has been already a bid done earlier in the market, which was rejected. Bad news for David de Gea, who will have to up his performances if he doesn't want this to be his last season as the absolute owner of the Old Trafford goal.
