The Erik ten Hag era at Manchester United has unofficially started. Then Dutch manager has already been announced as the new Red Devils' manager, and even though Ralf Ragnick continues to work on the dugout, everyone's eyes are on what lies ahead.
With Cristiano Ronaldo recently commenting on the arrival of his next boss, this time it was time for the former Ajax manager to speak his mind, and he made it every bit as clear that the Portuguese star will remain a key part of Manchester United. "From Monday, my focus will be on United, and I will, of course, get deep into things there. What I have to say about it is, the detailed analysis still has to begin, I still have to work with the team, but let me be clear that at United there are a lot of good players around. We have to make them function as a team but definitely Ronaldo, he is a giant.", he commented.
The Dutch manager isn't ignorant of the great work that lies in the future for him, and he knows he'll have to get his hands dirty to make it all work. "In the preparation for the season there are still a few things to be done," Ten Hag said in an interview with Dutch newspaper De Telegraaf. "We have to talk carefully about where we all want to go and how we are going to achieve that. There were possibilities to work at clubs where it is easier, because there is a better foundation.
It speaks of a man ready for the task at hand and looking to leave his mark on the great history of a club, rather than just add to his personal glory: "I chose United because there's something to be gained there. A lot of things need to be addressed and that's a challenge. The club and I are on the same page as far as that's concerned".
